Mel Gibson: Anti-Semite and Idiot?
In his interview with Diane Sawyer on Thursday Mel Gibson called his arrest "a blessing" and that he needed "public humiliation on a global scale" to get sober. With a face full of perspiration, Mel denied being an anti-Semite and claimed that liquor makes people "act, feel and behave in a way that is not you." Yeah I'm not buying it Melly Mel.
"Sometimes you need a cold bucket of water in the face to sort of snap to, because you're dealing with a sort of malady of the soul, an obsession of the mind and a physical allergy."

Whatever...look I do believe that liquor lowers your inhibitions and gives you the "I was drunk" excuse when you do some dumb ass shit. But I'm not buying the fact that liquor makes you into a bigot, a homophobe or an Anti-Semite if those tendencies are not already present somewhere in your stream of consciousness.
It's no secret that Mel's dad has some issues, i.e. denying the Holocaust. And that The Passion of the Christ has some pretty strong Anti-Jewish over tones. I'm more inclined to believe that this "drunken fit" was more of a coming out party for Mel's true feelings than a major departure from his true personality.
